“No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change.” - Barbara de Angelis
Life has it's ups and downs. Good and bad moments. Times where you feel like giving up and moments that you would never want to end. It is entirely up to you how you want to live it. For me, choosing to be happy and staying happy is just a part of my everyday routine.
Welcome To My Life
For those of you who know me, my name is Sansuley (pronounced san-SUE-lee to you noobs that don't ;). I am 100% Laotian but I can barely speak any of it. Lame, I know! My parents came here from Laos in the 70’s, met and they had me. Growing up, I enjoyed eating a little too much, so much that it made me overweight as a kid. My favorite item my grandma (RIP) made me was egg-yolk only scrambled eggs. Delicious, yet deadly. It affected me all the way through high school and then after college. Without such a desire to devour good tasting (yet calorie-enflamed) food, I would have never had the idea to attend culinary school.
In October of 2008, I graduated Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts with an Associates in Applied Science degree in Pastry and Baking. It was one of the highlights of my life. To be able to say that I went to school and did something that I whole-heartedly enjoy is awesome. Sadly, baking was cut short for me after my internship. I went through a few menial jobs in the food industry until I finally got lucky and scored an awesome job at Marriott International as a banquet chef. I love it there and I am very happy where my career is heading. My dream is to own and operate a burger joint, so we’ll see how that unfolds!
One of my biggest supporters in my life is my wife, Sarah. She and I have been together for over five and a half years, and have been married almost a whole month now. I asked her to marry me right in front of her parents while we were visiting Mount Rushmore. She was so happy that her tears of joy were the only confirmation that she said yes. It was one of the best moments of my life. We are got married on August 13th, 2011. I am very grateful to have such an amazing woman in my life who will support me through everything, laugh at my horrible jokes, and who will keep me grounded. I am extremely happy and nervous to live my life as a married man.
Right now, I am currently enjoying life day by day. I keep myself occupied by continuously exercising, playing lots of video games and keeping my wife entertained (ha ha).
